In an international situation of increasing security risks to these critical infrastructures, each and every operator in the industry must be aware of the strategic, economic, and political value of submarine cables to states and companies. Handling with extreme caution any sensitive information about the positioning of such infrastructure, such as the ability to develop an analysis about the most profitable routes in terms of protection from sabotage and espionage threats are skills more necessary than ever for operators.
