Connecting Cloud Innovation with Subsea Infrastructure.
Oceans & Cables attended AWS Community Day Malta 2026, held on 15–16 October at the Hard Rock Hotel in St Julian’s, Malta. The two-day event brought together cloud computing professionals, technology specialists and industry leaders to exchange knowledge on emerging technologies, digital infrastructure, connectivity and security.
For Oceans & Cables, whose work focuses on submarine cable infrastructure and connectivity, the event provided valuable insights into the evolving relationship between cloud technologies and the physical networks that support global communications.
Several topics on the conference agenda were particularly relevant to our industry, including discussions on distributed architectures, data security and network performance. These subjects highlight an important reality: while cloud computing continues to transform how businesses operate, its reliability and performance depend heavily on robust underlying telecommunications infrastructure, including submarine fibre-optic cable networks.
As global demand for cloud services, artificial intelligence and data-intensive applications increases, so does the importance of resilient international connectivity. Subsea cable infrastructure plays a fundamental role in enabling secure, high-capacity data transmission between countries, cloud regions and digital ecosystems.
Participation in AWS Community Day Malta reflects Oceans & Cables’ commitment to staying connected with technological developments that influence the future of global communications infrastructure. As the digital world continues to evolve, the infrastructure beneath our seas remains essential to keeping it connected.
